Community Partners

Although we refer to the team as R.O.B.B.E. (Robotics of Bound Brook and Ethicon), the team extends deep into the Somerset County, NJ community and beyond. Partners support the team in various ways by providing mentors, financial support, and community outreach events.

Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC)

The partnership with Raritan Valley Community College is now entering its fourth year and continues to grow.  Students from RVCC have the opportunity apply to work with the team in web development, graphic design, and engineering while earning college credit through their Service Learning ProgramA cover letter and resume must be submitted to the lead R.O.B.B.E. mentor.  An interview is sometimes also required.  Since its inception, seven students have donated more than 300 hours of their time to the team.

Middle Earth

Middle Earth and R.O.B.B.E. share similar values to better the community.  R.O.B.B.E. embraces Middle Earth's mission; "To provide individuals, primarily youth, with prevention, intervention and crisis services to help them to develop into responsible and productive members of the community."  Middle Earth conducts programs in the Bound Brook schools and R.O.B.B.E. students volunteer directly with Middle Earth during these programs.  R.O.B.B.E. students also host "special sessions" with Middle Earth participants where the robot is demonstrated at the middle and elementary schools.  We also thank Middle Earth for the financial generosity given to our team.
